Schafer is also actively involved with campaigning for better visibility for the transgender and non-binary communities. In 2019, she protested against the North Carolina’s proposed amendment that would have required people to use the bathroom that aligned with the gender listed on their birth certificate. Hunter has also never been afraid of talking about the importance and impact of the transgender community within her speeches.
